Week 27: when the flu hits sister tracy

Well, I got the flu this week. It's been pretty terrible. So we've just been inside for like 2 straight days now and probably will be for another 1-2. It's been pretty fun. Just kidding, its been terrible. I hate not being able to do missionary work. I was joking earlier this week that I was so tired that I just wanted to sleep for days, and I guess I got my wish....I've slept so much the last couple days haha but hopefully it all ends soon so I can go back to being a regular missionary again who doesn't sleep for days haha
But this week was so sad with dropping Sister Phenicie off at the mission home so she could go home :( it was so sad but she's doing well.
We had a worldwide missionary training broadcast from salt lake this week and it was amazing! It talked all about the doctrine of Christ and how we can use it more in our missionary work. How the doctrine of Christ is everything and we can never go wrong when we talk about that.
my new companion, sister smith is awesome! she's taken good care of me as i've been sick and she's been super awesome! so i'm excited for when we can actually go out and do some real missionary work.
miracle of the week:
we haven't had much luck with just going through the ward list recently because its huge and everyone either has moved or they're not interested. but this week, me and sister smith decided to try this one guy who I kept flipping to in the ward directory and he let us right in and he let us teach him and then we started talking to his niece who isn't a member and asked her if she wanted to learn more and she said yes! so we're going to start teaching both of them and we were so happy. i literally walked out of his house and started skipping around and freaking out. it was awesome.
funny moment:
we were going to sleep one night and we hear this weird noise at like 11:00 pm and we were like what the heck is that noise? so we look out our window, and there's a man sitting at the bus stop outside our window and he's just jamming out on his plastic recorder. like he was into that music man. like body swaying and everything. we laughed for like 10 minutes.
anyways, things here are awesome, besides the fact I'm sick, but that's okay. Other than that, its been awesome!
Have a great week, love you all!

Week 26: big changes

Well this week was good! There's so much craziness going on! Sister Phenicie goes to the mission home today and flies home tomorrow so that is SO sad. but I just found out that i'm staying for another transfer in my area so I'm excited! I love this area and all the people in it, and I just can't wait to see what awesome things are yet to come.
Well there's one big change will be a new companion tomorrow! That'll be CRAZY. But also, I cut my hair like 6 inches! check out the pics, its pretty dang cute. I'm pretty happy with it.
We got our investigator, Diane on date, but not til later in March because her daughter is the one who introduced her to the church and she wants to be there. but we were pretty dang stoked.
We had an awesome district meeting this week and we got on the roof of our church building which is 4 stories and that was awesome man.
funny story of the week:
so we were at this dinner and we were late so we were hurrying out the door so we were shaking everyone's hands and leaving and so i was trying to shake the husband's hand so i turn around really fast and start shaking what i thought was his hand but then it was actually sister phenicie's hand and i didn't realize it til like halfway through the handshake and then everyone was like laughing because they thought i was trying to be funny but i just wasn't paying attention hahah so then i get out of the apartment and i'm literally on the floor laughing over that for like 10 minutes haha i never stop making a scene wherever i go.

there's a scripture in isaiah. sorry i can't remember the reference, and this isn't the KJV wording but basically it says:
"when you pass through deep waters, I will be with you"
what a wonderful promise that is! that we are never alone. I want y'all to remember that! Heavenly Father will be with us always and forever!
Have a great week and #behappy!
I love y'all!

Week 25: #blessed

Well this week was sweet!! It snowed a bunch this week :( never my favorite but I'm learning to survive in it! And now, I'm starting to get used to it! Like 32 degrees seems so warm these days haha but such is life!
This week we went on exchanges with the sweetest sisters! We had such a good time! I love being an STL and being able to help out such amazing sisters. They're the best.
And lets see, we had service this week at this food bank and it was so fun! I legit love doing service, its the funnest and makes me the happiest! i love seeing other people happy!!
We had 2 zone meetings this week for the 2 zones we cover and they were so good! I gave trainings on sacrifice and accountability and they were fun! I love zone meetings, they're always an opportunity to learn and grow!
ANDDDDDDD BEST THING EVER HAPPENED TO US OH MY GOSH
we got a headquarters referral to this lady named Diane! And so we called her and she was like I was waiting for you to call! so we met with her this week and her first question: "so when is the soonest I can get baptized?" AHHHH I was at such a loss for words because I was so surprised so good thing Sister Phenicie spoke up because I was shocked haha but she is GOLDEN and she is so amazing. She came to church and was so excited and just loves the church! So we're planning on getting her on date for the end of the month tonight! Oh my gosh it was such a tender mercy. I'm so grateful Heavenly Father trusted us with her sweet soul.
best quote of the week ever:
"My message to you today is to fear not little flock. Life is wonderful, even in the hard times, and there is happiness, joy and peace at stops all along the way and endless portions of them at the end of the road. Please remember this one thing. If out lives and our faith are centered upon Jesus Christ and his restored gospel, nothing can ever go permanently wrong. Jesus is Alpha and Omega, literally the beginning and then end, He is with us from start to finish."
sorry I don't know who said that but it really hit me this week! Life is so wonderful and we're so blessed. nothing can go wrong forever when we have the Savior on our side!
have a great week, love you all!

Week 24: happy new year?

Well this week was CRAZY. but honestly, when is life not crazy?
Happy new year to all of you! I can't comprehend that its 2016...time has no meaning to me on a mission. So I guess that happened.
Well we got the biggest pizza in the world this week from a member. it was only 26 inches and it was so delicious.
Then we had MLCs this week to decide on our baptismal goal for 2016 for the mission. It was a really cool experience to feel of the Spirit guiding us in our decision for what we will do! We made a goal of 501 baptisms for the year of 2016 so I can't wait to see how that goes!
We had a mission wide meeting to announce the new goal and it was awesome!
Sister Mendenhall, our mission president's wife came down and spent the day with us and went to appointments with us and it was so fun! We went out to lunch and I spilled my entire bowl of soup into my lap and it was pretty embarrassing. not much has changed, lets be real.
And lets see, we've been singing more miracles every day! There was a while in there that I felt like I wasn't seeing miracles or God's hand as much as I have in the past but I realized that it was because I wasn't looking. They're always there!
That reminds me of quote by Elder David A Bednar,
"We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord’s tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance."
His hand is always there. I promise you that if you'll open your eyes to the goodness of God, you'll see it! That's my goal for this year, is to see His hand more because we're so #blessed
have a great week, love you all!
